Los nominados a mejor película incluyen American Sniper, Birdman, Boyhood, The Grand Budapest Hotel, The Imitation Game, Selma, The Theory of Everything, y Whiplash. Boyhood ganó el Globo de Oro por Mejor Drama, mientras que The Grand Budapest Hotel ganó Mejor Musical o Comedia.
Los nominados a mejor actor incluyen a Steve Carell (Foxcatcher), Bradley Cooper (American Sniper), Benedict Cumberbatch (The Imitation Game), Michael Keaton (Birdman), y Eddie Redmayne (The Theory of Everything). En los Globos, Keaton ganó Mejor Actor en Musical o Comedia, mientras que Redmayne ganó en la categoría dramática.

El rubro para Mejor Canción incluye a Tegan & Sara and The Lonely Island, cuyo tema para The Lego Movie, “Everything Is AWESOME!!!” fue nominada, al igual que “Glory” de Common con John Legend para Selma, que se llevó el Globo de Oro en la misma categoría.
